Caridad Center provides much needed school supplies to over 500 deserving children

Students and families are facing unprecedented challenges and circumstances for the 2020-2021 school year.  To the delight of many Palm Beach County Students and their families, many children were able to return to in person instructions on September 21, 2020.   Caridad was so pleased to once again hold its annual Back to School Event at the Center on September 26, 2020.  Backpacks filled with essential school supplies were distributed to over 500 needy students ranging in first to eighth grade.

School supplies were distributed to families via a drive-through system.  Both Caridad staff and volunteers wore personal protective equipment to ensure proper safety protocols were adhered to for all parties.  In addition to the distribution of school supplies, over 500 social determinants of health assessments were performed.  Families in attendance also received free personal protective equipment and pertinent information about COVID-19 from our Community Health Workers.

Special thanks to our Presenting Sponsor The Wellington Equestrian Group, as well as our other sponsors and contributors, including Spirit of Giving and Christ Child Society of Boca Raton.  Caridad would also like to thank its volunteers from American Heritage Pre-Med Club, Green Tree Foundation, American Chaplain Services Association, and several Caridad patients who donated their time to assist with the distribution of supplies.

Despite the challenges we are experiencing during the pandemic, Caridad was thrilled to continue its tradition of providing school supplies to needy students of Palm Beach County.  We could not continue to hold these important events for children and families in need without the tremendous support of our donors and volunteers.  We are grateful for your continued support.
