STEVEN & ALEXANDRA COHEN FOUNDATION PROVIDES FUNDING FOR COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT FOR CARIDAD CENTER’S DENTAL PROGRAM

$200,000 Grant Enables Uninsured Children and Families to Receive Timely Free Dental Care

(Boynton Beach, FL –) Caridad Center, the largest free healthcare and charitable clinic in Florida, today announced it has received a $200,000 grant from the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation. The grant will be used to provide significant funding for the expansion of Caridad Center’s dental program. The grant will enable Caridad’s dental clinic to expand its operations, resulting in more patients being seen with shorter wait times, as more timely follow-up care.

“Access to quality oral healthcare is important for a healthy life,” said Alexandra Cohen, President of the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation. “We are proud to support the essential dental services that Caridad Center provides for its clients in the community.”

“Our goal is to provide dental treatments that are positive experiences for families and children alike,” said Laura Kallus, Caridad Center’s CEO. “The Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation is making it possible for us to provide the latest technology that will support our patients’ needs and enable them to become great dental patients and role models for their families,” she added.

About Caridad Center, Inc.

Co-founded as a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3), teachers Caridad Asensio and Constance Berry saw their students were having trouble learning in school because they didn’t have enough to eat at home. In 1989, they opened a free clinic as the Migrant Association of South Florida in Boynton Beach, which later became Caridad Center in honor of Caridad Asensio. Today, Caridad Center, meaning “charity” in Spanish, provides medical, dental, vision, mental health, education and social services to more than 7,000 uninsured and underserved children, families and seniors. As the largest free and charitable clinic in Florida, Caridad Center’s clinical staff of doctors and nurses are all volunteers. Caridad Center’s mission is to upgrade the health, education and living standards of underserved children and families; and to eliminate the cycle of poverty for the families we serve in South Florida. Caridad Center is located at 8645 W. Boynton Beach Blvd., Boynton Beach, FL 33472. For more information, visit www.caridad.org.
