Caridad Center
The dream to build Caridad Center began when two Palm Beach County educators, Constance Berry and Caridad Asensio, saw their students coming to school hungry and in need of medical care. After recruiting 13 volunteer physicians, these two women opened the Migrant Association of South Florida in a trailer on the corner of US-441 and Boynton Beach Boulevard with 350 people waiting to be seen.
In 1997, they opened the Center’s permanent building, and later the name was changed in 2012 to Caridad Center, in honor of Caridad Asensio. Today, Caridad Center has grown to become the largest free and charitable clinic in Florida with medical, dental, vision, behavioral health, health education and social services
With over 400 volunteer physicians and dentists, Caridad Center provides 84,000 visits a year. Continuing its mission, Caridad Center’s Mobile Health Clinic ensuring that our underserved children and families in Palm Beach County can receive vital care.
