Caridad Center is thrilled to announce that it has received a grant to help disadvantaged young people (ages 18 to 28) who are struggling to pay for college, technical training or living expenses. Known as “The LaLa Grant,” this grant was awarded by clothing designer and longtime Caridad philanthropist Sugar McCauley in memory of her mother Elaine Sneirson Savin, who passed away at the age of 90 earlier this year.
As Sugar explains, Elaine was a vivacious, elegant and kind “Lala” to her 13 grandchildren, and she had a passion for helping young bartenders, college students, ballet dancers and visual artists who were just starting out and needed help to pay their rent or a boost to get over the financial hurdles of life. Caridad Center expresses its TREMENDOUS thanks to Sugar and her family for all their support in making this grant possible.
